Studies indicate that nearly 70% to 80% of Indians are protein deficient

They also indicate that more than 50% of the protein consumed comes from low-quality sources of protein.
While numbers are up from the past few years, Indians are still in need of high-quality, easy to digest high protein food in their diets.
According to the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) nearly half of all protein eaten in India now comes from basic grains like rice, wheat, semolina and refined flour. These grains contain a small amount of protein. These are not your regular sources of protein yet this is where most Indians are getting their protein from.
The average Indian consumes around 55.6 grams of protein daily, but a large share comes from cereals such as rice and wheat. While cereals do provide protein, they are generally lower in certain essential amino acids (especially lysine) and have lower protein quality compared with dairy, eggs, soy, pulses, or meat. A more diverse mix of protein sources can improve overall nutrition.
On top of that, pulses, dairy, eggs, fish, and meat are slowly disappearing from plates, especially in lower income homes. On the other hand, there are vegetarians who are getting even less protein than that.
Protein Awareness
Most Indians are not aware of their regular protein intake and do not know that they are deficient. In recent times, it has gotten better as people have become more health conscious due to the pandemic. More people are following clean eating habits and better nutrition. But still there is a major gap in the need for protein for people from all incomes and dietary preferences.
This highlights the need for alternative high-quality proteins that have all the amino acids. At Svvad Pro, we are using the goodness of pea-protein concentrate to create enriched food items that provide customers with a well-rounded protein source.
Now it does not need to be a complicated task to get enough protein in your diet thanks to Svvad Pro.
